March 17, 2023 – Y. Brg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin @ Md Daud, Mayor of Ipoh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of Ipoh City Council with one of the Cyclical Economy Strategic Partners, (Biovisma Sdn Bhd).

‘Circular Economy’ (C. E) also known as the Circular Economy which aims to place emphasis on returning resources into the environmental and economic systems through reuse and waste prevention initiatives. Ipoh City Council has set a benchmark of Ipoh being the cleanest city in Malaysia 2023 and Low Carbon City 2030. The goal of organizing this circular economy program is to:

i. Accomplishing VISION-Ipoh City Smart Region Based On Sustainable and Prosperous Ecosystem & MISSION-Empowering City Management Inclusive Towards Smart, Low Carbon and Prosperous City by 2030.

ii. Achieving the objectives and goals of the Ministry of Development and Local Government (KPKT) towards the transformation of solid waste management towards the Circular Economy.

iii. Sustainable solid waste management, and directly extends the lifespan of disposal sites.

v. Minimizing the impact of Global Warming, Climate Change, Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases.

Programs and activities like these are hopefully able to make VISI-Ipoh the Sustainable and Prosperous Ecosystem-Empowering City Management Inclusively Towards Smart, Low Carbon and Prosperous City by 2030.
