Management and Science University (MSU) Ipoh Branch Explores Green Energy Asia’s Sustainable Initiatives

Lahat, Perak – November 22, 2023

In a bid to enhance their understanding of sustainable energy practices, seven students and one lecturer, Mrs. Zahidah, from Management and Science University’s Ipoh branch embarked on a field trip to the Green Energy Asia (GEA) warehouse in Lahat, Perak. The visit, which commenced at 10 am on November 22, 2023, proved to be an enlightening experience for the delegation.

Upon arrival, the MSU team was warmly greeted by representatives from Green Energy Asia, who provided a comprehensive overview of the company’s groundbreaking initiative in collecting Used Cooking Oil (UCO) for the production of biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

During the session, the students were educated on the safe utilization of cooking oil and the proper methods for its disposal. Emphasis was placed on discouraging illegal collectors, as the improper handling of UCO could lead to its re-entry into the food chain or be repurposed for animal feed. This critical insight highlighted the importance of responsible waste management in the pursuit of a sustainable future.

The GEA representatives guided the MSU delegation through their facilities, illustrating the meticulous process of processing UCO according to the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) standard. This standard ensures the traceability of UCO from its collection to its transformation into environmentally friendly fuel, aligning with global sustainability goals.

The students were actively engaged in learning about the various stages of UCO processing and its role in mitigating environmental impact. GEA’s commitment to adhering to international standards reassured the students about the credibility and eco-friendliness of their initiatives.

The session concluded with a group photo, capturing the enthusiasm and inspiration gained by the MSU students during this eye-opening visit. The experience at Green Energy Asia’s warehouse not only broadened their knowledge of sustainable energy practices but also instilled a deeper appreciation for responsible waste management and its role in shaping a greener and more sustainable future.
